(CMR) Tiffany Conolly has been dethroned as Miss Cayman Islands Universe 2022, making her the first to ever face such a fate since the government has held the franchise. The entire ordeal has led the government to contemplate relinquishing the franchise to a private organization.
Despite the surprising announcement, the MCIU social media pages still had up the photo of the disgraced pageant queen. Tourism Minister Kenneth Bryan confirmed the decision Monday morning at a press conference held at the Government Administration Building and that Conolly has been advised of the decision. However, her IG page has not reflected the change:
Tiffany was convicted on Thursday morning for numerous for multiple offenses, including assaulting a police officer. She also now has several previous convictions that were not recorded but will now be on her record. Those also include, among other things, assaulting several police officers but kicking them in the privates and disorderly conduct. Those stem from multiple incidents also relating to her ex-boyfriends and assault of her mother and sister a the family residence.
Despite the verdict, Conolly has continued to publicly protest her innocence, claiming on her Instagram page that there are two sides to every story. She also, against the judge's orders, did something on Friday that was specifically prohibited by the court.
there’s a crown in my closet, not yours 😉

Conolly, who has a history of violence and volatile behavior, will be handing the crown over to the first runner-up, Ms. Chloe Powery-Doxey. From Thursday, CMR understood that plans were made to have a crowning ceremony for Chloe Power-Doxey.
The Miss Cayman Islands Universe Committee (MCIU) initially took down Conolly's image on social media shortly after the verdict replacing her with Powerr-Doxey. However, within minutes they reverted back to placing her back, leaving many confused about what decision would be made and why there was a delay.
The minister also noted that the government has restrictions in place by the international pageant and is now considering the possibility of no longer being the franchise holder. He claimed that the franchise agreement obligated them to ask for formal permission from Miss Universe International first before a decision could be made. CMR understands that the franchise is up for bid.
“The ministry under the franchise agreement has very limited authority to make decisions independently of the Miss Universe organization. As the minister with responsibility, who inherited this franchise when I took office, this is something that is very concerning for me.”
He also noted that there are a number of changes taking place within the international organization, and it's not clear if they will have to accept those new rules or if it is optional. The international pageant is under new ownership, and it was recently announced that married women would be allowed to enter the pageant.
He noted that the country may be better served if it was privatized and no longer held by the government. The matter will be reviewed by the government. The minister thanked the committee members for their contributions noting that it was a thankless job. He has not made any comments about the lack of proper vetting of the candidates which is on the committee, and clear evidence that Derri Dacres was dishonest during a Star 92.7FM interview.
Miss Cayman Islands Pageant started in 1932 but did not return until 1977. The franchise was privately held by others, including the JCs and Ms. Celeste Broderick, until the government took it over in the 1990s.
