(CMR) The Ministry of Investment, Innovation and Social Development is inviting applications from members of the public who wish to form the Financial Assistance Appeals Tribunal, which will be implemented this year.
During 2023, the Ministry will be implementing the Financial Assistance Act 2022, which includes the creation of a Financial Assistance Appeals Tribunal.
As a formal, independent, and voluntary entity, the role of the Tribunal will be to hear appeals regarding decisions of the Department of Financial Assistance and then make a determination.
The Tribunal will have five members, and three of the five members require specific experience:
-Chairperson: An attorney-at-law with at least five years’ experience;
-Deputy Chairperson: A person with at least five years’ experience in health and human services;
-A person with at least three years of experience in finance.
Public officers are ineligible to be considered for appointment due to the remit/nature of the Tribunal.
The application deadline is 17 February 2023. Following the application deadline, a Ministry committee will interview shortlisted applicants. The successful applicants will be recommended for Cabinet approval, and those appointed by Cabinet will be notified.
