(CMR) As McKeeva Bush recovers from his recent health scare, the RCIPS has indicated that the two criminal investigations against him are progressing and interviews have been scheduled. Many are speculating if his recent health complaints, which he blames on stress, are related to the ongoing investigations.
Responding to queries from CMR, the first complaint, which relates to an incident at the Ritz Carlton last year, is awaiting one final piece of information before the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) can make a legal ruling. It is anticipated that the remaining information should be obtained this week.
The second investigation, which was made recently over a decades-old sexual assault allegation, is said to be progressing “satisfactorily”. Bush's attorney has been engaging with investigators who have been reviewing disclosure materials provided by the RCIPS.
It was revealed over the weekend that Bush, who just celebrated his birthday, sought medical assistance at Health City Cayman Islands (HCCI) after experiencing some chest pains. However, he was quickly discharged as his office assistant informed people via WhatsApp that his condition has improved. Earlier on Thursday, she shared that he had tests, observation, and consultation at HCCI, which found “no blockages” in these arteries.
Despite that, she claimed that he had “borderline heart failure” from “severe and longtime consistent stress.” It is being advised that he has “complete rest now” and “avoid things that have caused him severe stress, which causes heart conditions that are unseen until it happens.”
CMR resources revealed that on Saturday evening, the 68-year-old enjoyed a night out at an Eastern Avenue bar, Bananas, where eyewitnesses said he quite enjoyed himself. However, on his Facebook page, he stressed that he enjoyed a quiet evening at home and was not taking any visitors.
Bush resigned as Speaker of the House recently after another scandal marred his public service record. He also has indicated his planned retirement from public office.
