(CMR) Mrs. Jane Owen has been appointed Governor of the Cayman Islands, the second female to serve in this position. She will take over from Mr. Martyn Roper, who leaves next year.
The UK Government announced that Mrs. Owen will take up her appointment during April 2023.
On her appointment, Mrs. Owen said, “I am honored and delighted to be appointed by His Majesty The King to be Governor of the Cayman Islands from April 2023. I look forward to developing a close partnership with the elected government and I will do my utmost to support the people of all three Islands of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman.”
Mrs. Owen is currently His Majesty's Ambassador and Non-Resident ambassador to Liechtenstein. She has served in various capacities over the years, including as Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer for UK Trade and Investment, and Counsellor for Trade, Finance, Science and Climate Change in New Delhi.
