(CMR) A 58-year-old George Town man was arrested on suspicion of leaving a scene in a hit-and-run accident that involved a cyclist on Esterley Tibbetts Highway. The female cyclist was admitted to the hospital but has since been released.
Reports are that shortly after 6:10 am, the cyclist had been traveling northbound when she was struck by the mirror of a passing vehicle, which continued traveling north.
As a result of the impact, the woman fell from the bicycle. The driver of another vehicle stopped to offer assistance shortly afterward. Emergency services attended the location, and the woman was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital to be treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The man was arrested last week and has been granted bail as investigations continue.
