(CMR) The Hon. Kenneth Bryan, Minister for Tourism and Transport will be setting out on official travel this week in a bid to enhance destination awareness and deliver wide-ranging media coverage for the Cayman Islands.

Throughout October, Minister Bryan will take part in several speaking engagements, attend networking events with key industry executives and participate in high-level panel discussions.

“By attending these vital trade and business conferences, the Ministry and Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) will be able to optimize networking opportunities with airline, cruise, and other industry stakeholders,” explained Minister Bryan.

“Our new initiates and enhanced tourism products must be communicated in order to drum up new business and reengage with our existing partners,” he added.

Official travel comprises participation in the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) MarketPlace, the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Cruise Conference, Routes World 22 and the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.

“The Cayman Islands was one of the last countries in the Caribbean to reopen, fully removing COVID-19 travel restrictions only in August. Especially in the lead-up to the high season, it is imperative we take an aggressive approach to marketing our destination,” Mr. Bryan said.

These profile-raising events will take place in various locations within the USA and Caribbean over the next five weeks. They are aimed at stimulating tourism economic activity, expanding business-to-business network connections, and facilitating tourism recovery strategy for the Caribbean region.

In his capacity as the newly appointed Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Chairman, Mr. Bryan will attend to his additional duties by hosting in-person meetings with the CTO membership.

“We are capitalizing on the instance that regional Ministers of Tourism will also be attending many of these conferences, this allows me to work efficiently in both capacities at no additional cost,” the Minister said.

Additionally, the Tourism Minister will attend the inaugural flight of the new Cayman Airways Ltd. route from Los Angeles to Grand Cayman in November. He will be accompanied by a delegation from the Ministry Of Tourism and Transport and the CIDOT during each travel appointment.
