(CMR) There is an urgent plea for blood donations after a woman was hospitalized in critical condition following a serious single-vehicle collision on Shamrock Road early Tuesday morning.
The Cayman Islands Blood Bank has announced a critical appeal for Type O negative blood, urging all eligible individuals to donate blood immediately.
Police reports are that shortly before 2 am, 4 October, officers responded to a serious single-vehicle collision on Shamrock Road, in the vicinity of Impulse Close, involving a red Honda Integra. The Honda was traveling westbound when it left the roadway and collided with a utility pole.
Emergency services attended the location, and the lone occupant was extracted from the vehicle by Fire Service officers, and transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital via ambulance.
Traffic backed up for hours Tuesday morning as police processed the scene of the crash. The incident is currently under investigation by the Traffic & Roads Policing Unit. The roadway in the area was partially closed for a period of time but has since been fully re-opened.
