(CMR) Minister of Tourism Kenneth Bryan has spoken about the Miss Cayman Islands Universe controversy for the first time since Tiffany Conolly was declared the winner.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Mr. Bryan said, “I want to firstly say congratulations to the winner and to all the contestants who bravely took part. It's not an easy task to be in the public domain… We have just gotten an opportunity to speak to the committee –and my Ministry reps– to talk about the many concerns they have raised.”
Mr. Bryan noted that it is a delicate situation, but his Ministry hopes to provide more information to the public next week.
“I'm doing an assessment through my Ministry and will have further information to release to the public later on, but I want the public to know that I recognize their various number of concerns that have been highlighted,” he stated.
Several people raised concerns about the committee's decision to allow Conolly to enter, although she has several criminal charges before the court.
