(CMR) Premier Hon. G. Wayne Panton tested positive for COVID-19 this morning – just days after the PACT government eased some of the COVID-19 regulations including mask-wearing and PCR testing to enter the Cayman Islands.
His office has confirmed that he tested positive this morning using a lateral flow test at home and awaits the results of a confirmatory PCR test, which he took this morning. He is said to be mildly symptomatic and will remain at home for the next seven days.
Despite his diagnosis, he is attending Caucus and Cabinet meetings via Zoom and will continue to work remotely from home.
Several members of the government have previously tested positive for the virus but thus far only the Education Minister, Julianna O'Connor-Connolly was hospitalized.
