(CMR) Freddy Manuel Christian-Diaz has been sentenced to five years in prison following his conviction for possession of child porn last year. Christian-Diaz (33) was found guilty on two counts of accessing and possessing child pornography.
The former UCCI employee was charged with possessing and accessing child pornography last year after he was accused of downloading at least five indecent images of underage children on two occasions.
During his trial, the prosecution said he spent upwards of seven hours in one sitting looking at child pornography and downloading numerous images and videos over 7 months. This included a Category A image of the penetration of an infant aged between 18 and 24 months.
In handing down the sentence, Justice Marva McDonald-Bishop said despite being the father of young children, Diaz did not try to protect children but instead searched for materials that showed violence against children. She said his actions showed a “dark and evil mind.”
A sexual harm prevention order was also handed down, preventing Diaz from accessing the internet for seven years after his release from prison unless he is using a device where he can be tracked and monitored. He will be required to notify the authority of any device he will be using, including for work purposes.
