(CMR) The PACT government has issued new COVID regulations that include the removal of pre-arrival PCR tests for everyone entering the Cayman Islands. Other welcomed changes have been introduced just in time for summer travel.
The ability for unvaccinated Caymanians and legal and ordinarily resident people to no longer have to quarantine. The mask mandates for airplanes, boats, and business establishments are now discretionary with businesses having the option to determine what their policy should be. Unvaccinated tourists are still not allowed to enter the Cayman Islands and travel declarations remain in place for everyone.
Persons quarantined locally no longer are required to subject themselves to an exit test as long as they are asymptomatic or not showing any signs of flu-like symptoms. The government is relying on people to use the honor system to self-regulate themselves in relation to this aspect of the changes.
Some facilities such as (a) a health care facility; (b) a residential home care facility; (c) a prison or place of detention; or (d) such other public place as may be specified by notice by the Medical Officer of Health will still require the wearing of masks.
Children will continue to take the vaccinated states of their parents.
Unvaccinated tourists are still not able to enter the country at this time. The new regulations will be in force until the end of August and at that time the ongoing relaxing of the regulations will be re-evaluated.
The Chief Medical Officer retains the right to make any necessary changes should they be required to keep the public safe. These new regulations will take affect on June 30th.
