(CMR) A dispute with a woman over two crabs is believed to be at the root of the murder of a man who was killed in Jamaica last week.
According to the Jamaica Observer, Odean “Didblack” Smith (31), a bike taxi operator, was gunned down in Grange Hill, Westmoreland, one day after a court case relating to the crab dispute ended.
Smith was reportedly sitting on his bike when a car approached; two men got out and shot him multiple times to his upper body. He was later taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Reports are that Smith and a man had an altercation in 2018 after a female bought three crabs from him but was only given one. Smith told the woman she would get the other crabs when he went to catch more.
The woman reportedly complained to her spouse, who got into a fight with Smith, a source told Jamaica Observer.
Smith’s house was later gutted by fire, and the matter went to court. He was shot and killed one day after the court case concluded last week.
