UPDATE: The three-year-old girl who requires treatment overseas will be flown out of the island at 4 this afternoon after the community contributed towards the cost of an air ambulance. According to a Facebook post by the ARK, an amazing $18,000 KYD was raised in less than 24 hours in response to this urgent appeal for help.
(CMR) An urgent fundraising plea is being sent out to the community for money to secure an air ambulance for a 3-year-old COVID-19 patient. The child is said to be suffering from serious complications from the coronavirus and requires air ambulance services to travel overseas.
She has been in hospital since February 21st.
Cayman’s Acts of Random Kindness (ARK) posted the plea on their Facebook page earlier Tuesday afternoon sharing that the child has suffered serious complications from the Covid-19 virus and now requires emergency surgery.
The funds would be used to secure the air ambulance which costs approximately $28,000.00. It was also shared that the hospital in Florida has agreed to cover the cost of the surgery and waive the fee.
However, she must be transported along with her mother safely there as quickly as possible and provide funds for the mother's accommodation for at least two weeks. There is also an uninsured debt accruing at the hospital.
