(CMR) A Jamaican promoter and his wife, based in the United States, were arrested in connection to alleged shoplifting in Connecticut. They are also suspected of being involved in thefts in New York and New Jersey.
Jadion Richards (41), a party promoter known as Jay Icon, and businesswoman spouse Akwele Lawes-Richards, (42), popularly known as Apple, were arrested last week after the Southbury Police were alerted to a shoplifting incident at HomeGoods in New Milford. They have been charged with larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny, and second-degree forgery.
Officers reportedly responded to the HomeGoods in Southbury, where they spotted a vehicle that matched the description of the suspects' car. The couple was found in possession of a large amount of fraudulent HomeGoods receipts, fake driver's licenses from the Tri-state area, and a retail theft device. Southbury Police say they are suspected of thefts in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey.
The couple has since been released on bond and will appear in court later this month.
