VIDEO EDITORIAL: Drunken Word of Mouth – when a Jackass has a platform

EDITORIAL

Dear CMR,

I woke up this morning to see a friend send me this link of Mario Rankin having a drunken stupor moment criticizing the RCIPS and I wanted to address a few things through your platform.

How many times will this drunken man embarrass himself? He was out last night harassing the police and accusing them of “doing nothing”.

It's bad enough that he has been arrested multiple times for driving whilst intoxicated and running his fast cars into people's property causing damage and now this? The court records should be read in full. I hope you will do a full search of those and provide the details of him leaving the scene of accidents in not so distant past.

While he was busy criticizing the RCIPS last night for doing their job did anyone observe how he got home whilst slurring his words and clearly intoxicated? This is precisely what happens when anyone feels like they can have a platform regardless of any lack of integrity or responsibility, especially to the truth.

He continued his moronic and disrespectful rhetoric last night now taking aim at men and women who put their lives on the line daily. Mario has no concept of sacrifices and hard work. He should spend some time learning what the RCIPS is doing instead of seeking first to criticize without even understanding.

He is reckless with his comments when sober but last night gave us all a glimpse into the mania that is Mario.

The reason he mainly has conspiracy theorists, loose nuts and bolts following him is that most of us can see that he is manic and an attention-seeking wanna-be-relevant little boy with serious and complex phycological issues. He seeks attention for himself whilst pretending to be concerned about the issues facing this country.

https://caymanmarlroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/WhatsApp-Video-2021-11-27-at-10.12.25-AM.mp4

None of the sheep have ever put him to the task and ask what has he ever done to help anyone else in this community. He has only sought to help himself in an attempt to live above his means with fast cars and an empty bank account.

Please don't get me started on the million that he borrowed from the bank of the people of the Cayman Islands and then didn't bother to make any payments on. I could go deep into how he lashes out at women in both his personal life and in working community groups. This is the caliber of man that has the audacity to criticize those on the frontline of safety for this country.

Is this the same man who got on a British TV show and bragged about and flaunted his fake wealth claiming he was building all sorts of stuff that we have yet to see? Is this the same man who had his vehicles torched because of his dealings with other truckers back in 2013? Is this the same man sued in 2015 by Celebrations Ltd. for borrowing over half a million dollars and not paying it back? Is this the same man sued by his own uncle for alleged corporate illegalities etc.

No one wants to speak on what is obvious right? This is the Cayman way – give him a platform and allow him to rise to the top in his mind – so much so that now he can get on his social media platform in a drunken state and criticize the RCIPS without any real merit. Elevate those that fail in life because of their own poor decisions and tear down those that have worked hard, remained honest and contributed to the country.

Anywhere else in the world he would be made to feel ashamed of having a track record of such failures not elevated.

Let's examine the content of his utterly ridiculous comments. Firstly, as we all know from your platform the prosecution decided to not proceed with charges in  what could be the single most shocking and heinous crime ever in the history of the Cayman Islands. A machine gun or automatic weapon of some sort was used to spray bullets indiscriminately in a bar full of people with deadly consequences.

No doubt the police are aware of the real life implication of releasing this man back into the streets leaving no one accused of the murder. Whilst his innocence or guilt would have been left up to the judge or a jury to decide anyone with a salt grain of common sense would know what this means for people on the streets.

The streets will be running hot and the police know it. Many are expecting more bloodshed soon – Mario is so oblivious to the realities of Cayman that he can afford to make extremely reckless comments at a time like this.

Police have attended to that location for several murders over the years including one on Christmas Eve last year. It is a known hotspot for violence and in the past as soon as there was no police presence a major incident would happen. I'm guessing Mario has lived so oblivious for so long he does not have all of the answers to our problems that he thinks.

He disrespects the police and encourages others to do so as well – at a time when this is extremely dangerous. I suspect in no way is he even aware of the implication of his actions. Young men should be looking up to him as a respectable man but instead they can look up to him as a fellow law breaker instead. A man so disgraced he is disqualified for life from running for public office. There should be no honor in that.

Only now does he have a platform – thanks to the insanity created by COVID! Ironically people who would otherwise never give him the time of day have found common ground in their conspiracy beliefs over COVID-19. Now they fuel his madness and allow him to think he can do what he wants without consequences. He has been unleashed fully on this community thanks to those few people and allowed to disrespect everyone including the premier of this country with no fear of repercussions.

This has been the perfect storm and presented an opportunity for the “Marios of the World” to all of a sudden have a platform and answers for everything. Absolutely NO proven track record of anything he has done – but yet people want to put their faith in him.

Mario – when you wake up on Sunday and come out of the hangover – stop basking in the glory of a few hundred social media views and try to get some help. Your drinking alone should be a cause for concern but couple that with your anger issues and egomaniacal syndrome we got a real problem on our hands.

Thank you to the RCIPS for the hard work they are doing on a daily basis to keep the people of the Cayman Islands safe.
