(CMR) The United States Government has reinstated the visa of East Kingston Member of Parliament, the PNP's Phillip Paulwell. Paulwell is one of two popular Jamaican politicians who had their visas revoked.
Paulwell, a member of the People's National Party, and Daryl Vaz, the government minister in charge of Energy, both had their visas revoked in 2019; however, Vaz's visa was reinstated earlier this year.
According to Nationwide News, Paulwell was this week issued a ten-year B1/B2 visitor's visa. No reason was given for the revocation of Paulwell's visa.
“The American embassy has seen it fit to return my 10-year, multiple visa, unrestricted, and I want to express appreciation to them for the level of professionalism in relation to the processing,” Paulwell told The Gleaner in an interview.
Paulwell said, “It was a difficult experience for me knowing that I had not done anything to warrant my visa being revoked, but I did continue to have good relations with the embassy.”
Paulwell is scheduled to travel to the US on Thursday.
