(CMR) Kasnique Cupid (Eve Highvoltage) age 36 took the stand in her own defense Friday and Monday in the Tortuga robbery trial that is currently ongoing. In a bizarre twist, Cupid admitted to having an extramarital affair with a man named Richardo Campbell and denied the prosecution's case that she was the mastermind behind the robbery.

Campbell has purchased her van that was allegedly used in the robbery after the event. He denied having an affair with her but did testify that she was flirting with him and tried to pursue him. She admitted to the affair to create an alibi for her whereabouts on the evening of the robbery.

Cupid appeared confused at times during her testimony and accused the prosecution of purposely trying to confuse her in order to prove their case. She used a similar tactic during her police interview where she accused them of trying to set her up and twist her words.

During her testimony, she gave a detailed account of where she was on the night of February 7, 2020. The prosecution pointed out a number of inconsistencies in her story and put a few matters to her that they contend are contrary to what she first told the police at two earlier interviews that took place within weeks of the robbery.

Initially, Cupid told the police that the Friday night in question was an ordinary night for her and nothing about that evening stood out as significant in her mind. She noted that it was customary for her to stay home most Friday evenings with her husband and kids.

However, the prosecution pointed out that once she took the stand in her own defense she admitted to actually going to the grocery store and then a beach party where she cooked and prepared the menu. She noted that her memory was jogged about the events of the evening after she was shown a photograph of herself at Fosters Supermarket in West Bay buy wipes. Apparently, it was the wipes that triggered her substantial memory.

She then claimed to have loaned her car to a man named Wilbert Williams during the time of the robbery. He has since been deported from the Cayman Islands. However, at her initial police interview, she told them that she had not loaned her car to anyone that night.

The prosecution pressed her about why she did not immediately go back home as well as why she purchased some black gloves at the store. They also asked why in the witness box she could now recall so much detailed information bur during her police interview she either could not remember or gave no comment.

Crown Counsel Garcia Kelly noted that it was peculiar that almost 18 months later she could remember menu items but 42 days after the robbery she could not recall anything about that night except that she was ordinarily home with her family. He pressed her about how exactly her memory worked.

The continued interrogation appeared to frustrate the witness who had times was observed murmuring to herself, closing her eyes, and even claiming that she did not understand what was being asked of her. She accused Kelly of purposely trying to confuse her.

During her police interview, she claimed that she was a very intelligent person and was also very resourceful.

One point of interest was whether or not she knew her co-accused Mr. Richard Nash Jr., her co-accused. An enormous amount of time was spent trying to figure out if she knew him or not and what she said to the police. She shared that his father, who carries the same name, was her personal tailor as both she and her husband prefer to wear fitted suits.

DPP claimed that the motive for the robbery was that Cupid had been in debt with a friend who was pressing her to pay back some money she had borrowed.

However, she denied knowing the son. Finally, Judge Marva McDonald-Bishop asked her to clarify what she meant by “he was known to me” as opposed to knowing him. She explained that she would have to know about his childhood, his family details and a special friend for her to consider knowing him. Otherwise, he is only known to her. She informed the police she did not know him despite phone evidence and Facebook messages to the contrary.

Her co-accused goes by several street names included Sickka and Short Boss. He did not give take the stand or provide any defense. Nash also claimed he did not know her but phone evidence demonstrated that two were in contact until the day of her police interview – when he stopped using that phone entirely.

The case is being heard by judge alone and will resume on Wednesday afternoon with closing arguments.
