(CMR) In less than six months, the production company working with Blogger Mario Rankin has called it quits and is no longer handling his Word of Mouth podcast. Exclusive sources revealed to CMR that were receiving numerous complaints about the show and became concerned about the legal implications of his bold comments and the liability they were taking on by extension.
It was further revealed that they may have sought legal advice as they recently posted a legal disclaimer stating that they were not responsible for the views of the host of the show. This attempt to distance themselves appears to have not been enough because, within a week of that disclaimer being added, CMR understands that Rankin's son took over from Media Warehouse.
The changeover occurred swiftly this week. The change occurred between Tuesday, September 28 and Thursday morning. On Monday, Rankin claimed to have technical difficulties which he blamed on some mysterious person on Thursday morning, claiming that he thought he knew who was to blame. The nature of the technical issues was not elaborated on. It is unclear if he was intending to blame Media Warehouse or some external party for his issues.
Nonetheless, the before and after videos below demonstrate that his show is no longer a Media Warehouse Production but is now an MDR Production.
MDR stands for Mario Dion Rankin. Rankin obtained this business license in February 2021. It states that he is a community consultant and is an “Agent including airline, shipping or travel agent, salesman or advertising agent or consultant, and any other professional agent not mentioned herein.”
Several persons reached out to CMR to indicate their displeasure at what they claim are ongoing attacks on their character by Rankin on his podcast show. They indicated they had consulted their attorneys. Others have indicated they have no intention of legitimizing Rankin by replying to him because he is simply “clout chasing.”
Not wanting to get caught in the crossfire, it appears that the shareholders at Media Warehouse placed pressure on the frontman and producer, Luis, to distance himself from the controversial figure. Luis was responsible for the design of the show, music, and even all creative elements. He also helped to procure the equipment for the podcast, which is streamed out at a location close to the airport.
In less than six months, Rankin has taken aim at the premier, the minister of finance, and became one of Cayman's most vocal anti-vaxxers. Rankin now calls himself a “pro-choice” person and not an anti-vaxxer but continues to question the legitimacy of the virus and the vaccine. Rankine has gone as far as claiming that the term “asymptomatic” did not exist and was never used before the COVID-19 pandemic.
