RUMOR: There is a voice note currently being circulated on What's App that the COVID-19 virus has spread to Cayman Brac after a student of the George Town Primary and family traveled there on Wednesday.
FALSE: There is no community spread in Cayman Brac. However, Public Health said it is aware of a suspected breach, including 3 persons who traveled to Cayman Brac recently, one of which is a student at George Town Primary School.
All family members, including the student, have tested negative for COVID-19 at Faith Hospital and will remain in home isolation for 14 days or until otherwise instructed by Public Health.
Public Health reassures the public that there is no cause for public health concern at this time. The Acting Medical Officer of Health wishes to remind the public there are legal consequences for not adhering to mandatory isolation.
Public Health officials, along with the Ministry of Education, advised that ALL George Town Primary School (GTPS) households must continue to isolate whether results have been received or not until they are contacted by a Public Health or Education official.
