(CMR) Caribbean Utilities Company (CUC) has implemented a mask mandate and will be limiting the number of people allowed into its office at once.
CUC announced these changes following the confirmation of community transmission of COVID-19 in the Cayman Islands on Thursday. CUC stated in a release that it has been taking proactive preparedness measures to protect employees and its operations against COVID-19.
“As recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we are also encouraging you, our valued customer, to please implement social distancing. As a reminder, please wash your hands frequently and keep your surroundings sanitized.,” the release stated
“We will be requiring masks for those individuals who visit our premises and limiting access to a maximum of four customers at a time until further notice,” it continued.
CUC said the company recognizes that it provides a critical service to the island and reminds customers that all electricity service requirements with CUC can be requested virtually. The CUC contact center can be reached via email at [email protected] or at 949-5200. Applications for electricity service can be completed electronically on the company's website.
The company also reminds customers that it offers E-Billing and portal access for bills as well as many remote/digital payment options.

If you choose to pay at a remote payment agent location, it is recommended to keep at least one meter between yourself and the next individual in line.
