(CMR) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the US has warned citizens against traveling to Jamaica. The CDC raised its travel advisory to “Level 4: Very High” for Jamaica, telling Americans they should avoid travel there.
Jamaica continues to experience a surge in COVID-19 cases, prompting the government to implement several no-movement days in a bid to reduce the spread of the virus.
A notice posted on the CDC website states that if persons must travel to Jamaica, they should make sure they are fully vaccinated before travel.
Because of the current situation in Jamaica, even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants, the CDC stated.
As of Monday, Jamaica has recorded 72,824 cases of persons with the coronavirus and 1,646 deaths. The total number of persons hospitalized on Monday was 755.
