CUC continues work to restore power

(CMR) CUC crews worked overnight to restore power to all large outage areas other than the High Rock Quarry Road, Colliers main road from Tukka Restaurant to Morritts Tortuga, and Buena Vista Road in Savannah. These remaining large outage sections will be restored today.

Apart from these large areas, approximately 60 small outage pockets are dispersed across the Island, with a total of 80 customers affected. The company said it is systematically addressing these areas.

CUC said some of these customers could be restored quickly while others require extensive work, and it is anticipated that crews will be working throughout the night again.

“We are also receiving a significant number of requests for reconnections from customers whose facilities sustained damage and were disconnected to enable repairs. Many of those properties are now ready for reconnection. We are working through all of the restorations and reconnections in an orderly manner and anticipate that all remaining customers, with the exception of customer properties that have sustained significant damage, will be restored by Sunday,” CUC stated in a release on Saturday.

Customers who are without power are asked to refer to our Outage Map at www.cuc-cayman.com to confirm that the outage has been recorded. CUC will review and update the restoration times on the outage map by 4 p.m. today.  

If your neighbors have electricity and you remain without power, CUC asks that you leave a message on their Outage Hotline at 945-1282, which is being monitored by their team. To report downed power lines, fires, or other electrical safety issues, please call 911.

Customers are also reminded to follow the safety guidelines when using generators. Never connect the output of the generator into the electrical breaker panel or household outlets. Keep generators outdoors in open spaces, and always plug your appliances directly into the generator. Avoid overloading.
