(CMR) The Turks and Caicos Islands will only accept visitors fully vaccinated against the coronavirus as of September 1, 2021, as the majority of new cases in recent weeks were visitors.
Minister of Health Jamel Robinson made the announcement last week in light of the rapid rise in COVID-19 cases, The Turks and Caicos Sun reported. All visitors 16 years and older will be required to be vaccinated at least two weeks before traveling to TCI.
According to the Sun, the minister did not specify which vaccines will be acceptable and how they will be authenticated.
Visitors will still need to test negative for COVID-19 on arrival. Those who test positive will be required to self-isolate at their own expense for 10 days. They will also need to produce a negative test on day seven in order to be released.
Large countries such as the US and Canada have indicated that they intend to make the COVID-19 vaccine mandatory for visitors as they reopen their borders to international travel.
