(CMR) Twenty-seven people sailing on Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Vista ship that visited Roatan, Belize on Wednesday tested positive for COVID-19. This included 26 crew members and one passenger.
These persons reportedly tested positive last week and were placed in isolation, and contact tracing done.
According to a release from the Belize Tourism Board, “the team at Carnival noted that all positive cases have been isolated and contact tracing has ended with no additional positive cases found and that the infected crew and passenger do not pose a threat to guests, crew or frontline workers in Belize.”
The tourism board said all passengers with a negative COVID-19 test were asked to provide proof of this, and those passengers who did not have proof of negative test were subjected to random testing carried out by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
According to the release, the Carnival Vista cruise ship was carrying 2,895 passengers and 1,441 crew members when it arrived in Belize.
On the ship, 99.98% of crew members were vaccinated, and 96.5% of passengers were vaccinated. All of the people who tested positive are vaccinated. Most are asymptomatic, and a few have mild symptoms.
