(CMR) The Cayman Islands vaccination rate for persons who have received two doses of the COVID-19 is lagging below 70 percent. The Government is aiming to reach 80 percent vaccination in order to reopen the country's borders safely.
However, the vaccination rate could increase as some businesses are making the vaccine mandatory for new staff and renewal of permits.
There have been 99,065 COVID-19 vaccinations given in total in the Cayman Islands. Of these, 50,607 (71% of 71,106) have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 48,458 (68%) have completed the two-dose course.
The percentages of those having had their first vaccination dose are males 51% and females 49%.
Meantime, the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. John Lee, reports that 330 COVID-19 tests were carried out since last reported on Tuesday, 10 August 2021. There was one positive test result in a traveler.
The Public Health Department has updated the latest schedule for the COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic from 2nd – 30th August. Dose 1 & 2 remain available to all persons over the age of 12, regardless of surname.
