(CMR) A COVID-19 quarantined traveler who was admitted to the hospital remains hospitalized but is showing signs of improvement. Government authorities confirm that the individual is not vaccinated.

After confirming on Monday that a person was quarantined suffering from symptoms of COVID-19 disease Public Health noted that the person was stable and did not require ventilator support at this time. Their condition continues to show improvement.

The latest report is that they are doing much better today and they are not aware of the patient being infected with the Delta variant.

A small number of people in the Cayman Islands continue to question the efficacy of the vaccine in light of the news that there continue to be some breakthrough cases of COVID-19 infections amongst the fully vaccinated population.

However, experts continue to warn people that symptomatic breakthroughs are extremely rare and the benefits of being vaccinated have been proven in preventing serious illness and death. ABC News shared:

“With more than 156 million Americans fully vaccinated, nationwide, approximately 153,000 symptomatic breakthrough cases are estimated to have occurred as of last week, representing approximately 0.098% of those fully vaccinated, according to an unpublished internal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention document obtained by ABC News. These estimates reflect only the adult population and do not include asymptomatic breakthrough infections.”
