(CMR) Eziekiel Carter appeared in Grand Court today via Zoom link from Northward Prison. This is the first date that the matter is before the higher court after he made an appearance yesterday. The 36-year-old Carter faces a seven count indictment which includes murder and multiple counts of attempted murder.
His attorney indicated that he would be seeking advice about a dismissal application from senior counsel and would be in a better position to respond to the indictment on August 20. The matter was put for mention for that date.
The judge agreed that given the complexity of the application a two week adjournment appeared a reasonable amount of time before the next court appearance. Should his attorney, Oliver Grimwood, require further time he will advise the court and DPP.
Carter is accused of being a gunman in a recent mass shooting incident at Vic's bar that shocked many in the community.
The victim's family was in attendance in court again today to view the progress of the proceedings.
