UPDATE: Police have confirmed that a man injured in a crash that occurred this morning has died.
(CMR) One person was left unresponsive following a serious two-vehicle collision in the vicinity of Governor Russell Beach on Bodden Town Road this morning.
Unconfirmed reports are that the driver of the car suffered a seizure and collided with a dump truck. CMR sources indicated that he is a former prison officer who had been living in the UK but returned with his wife because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Police reports are that at around 11:20 am, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched police and other emergency services to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Bodden Town Road, in the vicinity of Governor Russell Beach, involving a dump truck and a silver Toyota Noah.
The dump truck had been traveling westbound and the Toyota eastbound when they collided. The driver of the Toyota was trapped inside the vehicle and was extricated by officers from the Cayman Islands Fire Service, before being transported by ambulance to the Cayman Islands Hospital. The driver, a man (63) of Bodden Town, was subsequently pronounced dead. The driver of the truck was not injured.
The matter is currently under investigation by the Traffic & Roads Policing Unit. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the TRPU at 649-6254.

Traffic diversions were in place, with eastbound traffic being diverted onto Condor Road and westbound traffic being diverted onto Anton Bodden Drive.
