(CMR) While many in Honduras celebrated the rescue of 10 of the 15 Honduran fishermen who went missing while on route to Jamaica last week, the families of five of the men are now mourning their deaths.
Reports are that four of the men went down with The Falling Star when the vessel rollover 30 miles of Pedro Bank, Jamaica Observer reported.
The remaining 11, including the captain, boarded a lifeboat; however, the captain, who was said to be diabetic, died while the men drifted for days. His body was thrown overboard.
The other 10 men were rescued on Thursday by a ship traveling from Kingston to Guatemala.
The fishermen who work with Rain Forest Jamaica were returning to Jamaica from Honduras when all communication was lost with them. They were scheduled to reach Jamaica last Friday. The Jamaica Defence Force partnered with their counterparts in other countries, including the Cayman Islands, to find the men.
