(CMR) Jamaica's entertainment industry continues to mourn the death of popular actor Volier ‘Maffy’ Johnson, who died over the weekend. Johnson reportedly suffered a heart attack on Friday, 10 July.
Johnson, who had worked in theatre for more than 50 years, was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Over the years, the actor performed in a number of pantomimes and plays and the Oliver at Large series.
Patrick Brown, a playwright who created the Maffy character, remembers the actor as a friend who had a great relationship with everyone.
“He is one of the nicest persons to know. …That man loved pork, but you know, I wouldn't say he had any regrets for the way he lived his life. No bad can be said about Volier either, we had fun times, and we'll meet again. I really can't say anymore,” an emotional Brown told The Star.
