(CMR) Several areas of Jamaica reported flooding on Sunday as Tropical Storm Elsa unleashed heavy rains on the island. A number of areas in Kingston and St Andrew, St Thomas, and Clarendon reported flooding. There were also reports that major roadways were impassable as waters filled the streets.
In the Dominican Republic, the storm claimed at least two lives after two people were crushed by a collapsed wall in two separate incidents Saturday. Another death was reported in St. Lucia after Elsa battered the eastern Caribbean as a Category 1 hurricane on Friday.
At 4 pm Sunday, Tropical Storm Elsa was located about 15 miles west of Cabo Cruz, Cuba, moving northwest at 14 mph with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.
According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, the tropical storm could re-intensify over the weekend but is likely to be a tropical storm after hitting Cuba.
