“We understand that this is concerning, especially in light of other recent firearm incidents. In response, we are deploying additional armed patrols for heightened armed visibility. We would like to assure members of the community that we are taking this incident seriously, and public safety is always our first priority.”
Deputy Commissioner Kurt Walton.
(CMR) The RCIPS has launched a murder investigation Friday morning after four men were shot during the course of Thursday night. There appears to have been three persons confirmed shot on Martin Drive in George Town Thursday night shortly after 11:00 p.m. leaving one man nonresponsive at the scene. The 36-year-old man from George Town was confirmed dead shortly after the incident.
Emergency services attended the location and took two men they found there to the hospital. A third man was also shot in the incident and was taken to the hospital in a private car where he received treatment. Shortly before 11:40 p.m., a fourth man attended the hospital in a private car with gunshot wounds.
The police have indicated they unsure if the fourth man received his injury as a result of the same incident or if it is related to the same location. CMR sources have shared that that shooting took place in West Bay. Our sources also shared he was shot in the leg whilst driving.
The matter is under investigation and a Major Incident Room has been opened. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the RCIPS Major Incident Room, at 649-2930.
More details are emerging and CMR will update once available.
