(CMR) Several communities were left without power today, following thunderstorms across the Cayman Islands. Over 2000 customers were affected.
Power is expected to be restored to customers by 3:18 pm today.
The National Weather Service has forecasted isolated thunderstorms with moderate winds and seas over the Cayman area for the next 24 hours as an upper-level system over Cayman interacts with a tropical wave over the Northwest Caribbean.
Radar images show isolated thunderstorms around the Cayman area moving southwest.
Tonight is expected to have partly cloudy skies with a 30% chance of showers and possible thunder. Temperatures will fall to the upper 70’s °F. Winds will be east to northeast at 5 to 10 knots. Seas will be slight with wave heights of 1 to 3 feet.
There is expected to be similar weather through Saturday evening as the upper-level system lingers over the NW Caribbean.
