(CMR)Several persons have been required to isolate because of Cayman's latest COVID-19 ICU patient that has been described as “highly symptomatic”. The Health Services Authority (HSA) has confirmed that “a small number” of their employees have been placed in isolation as a result of the infected patient.
HSA CEO Lizette Yearwood shared that:
“It is our top priority to keep our patients and staff safe, therefore out of an abundance of caution, anyone potentially exposed directly or indirectly has been placed in isolation. These persons in isolation will be monitored and tested following standard Public Health protocol.”
Exclusive CMR sources have indicated that the patient was quarantined at a private facility and had gone outside to take out his garbage when he “dropped down”. He was then found and assisted by a Jamaican man. That man lives in a tenant home in Scranton, George Town that he then went back to after assisting the COVID-19 patient. At that house, they all shared a bathroom and kitchen.
The government has since closed down the house on Monday evening and CMR understands they have been taken to the Holiday Inn and will be tested on Wednesday. It is believed that at least four tenants were at that house and at least two of them work at a food distribution company.
Now, their co-workers who all work at a local distribution center are concerned that they may have been exposed as well. One person wondered:
“Should our organization not be shut down to do contact tracing and sanitizing?”
