(CMR) Travel Cayman has indicated that there has been no quarantine breach by a couple in photos being circulated on social media after numerous people reached out to CMR with concerns that they may have been out on a boat while in quarantine.
The couple, who said they were alone, indicated that the boat was actually docked at the property they were staying, and they took the photos with a selfie stick.
RCIPS, in conjunction with Public Health and Travel Cayman, conducted an investigation into the alleged breach of isolation protocols following the circulation of the images on social media showing travelers in quarantine aboard a boat.
Their investigation revealed that the pictures were taken on a boat that was dry-docked at the private residence where the travelers were in quarantine. It was deemed that no breach occurred, and there are no Public Health concerns at the moment.
The public and travelers are reminded that a traveler is permitted to enter their private yard as long as this is not a shared space and has adequate social distancing from neighboring properties. Anyone seeking clarification can reach out to the Travel Cayman team by email [email protected] or by calling 345-945-0556.
As a result of the circulation of these photos, persons have raised questions about how the perimeter for quarantining is set. CMR also reached out to Travel Cayman to get some clarification.
The public is also reminded that any person that is found to be in breach of the mandatory quarantine provisions will be warned for intended prosecution and is liable on conviction to a fine of up to ten thousand dollars and imprisonment for up to two years.
