(CMR) Members of the House of Parliament of the Cayman Islands celebrated the 25th annual National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast with members of the executive and judicial branches of the government on Wednesday morning at the Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman. The event was hosted by the Speaker of Parliament, Mr. McKeeva Bush.
Current and former Members of Parliament (MPs), their guests, senior civil servants and Parliamentarians recently came together for a rousing, spiritually-infused look into the state of the nation. It was attended by some 500 attendees of different faiths and political persuasions. The 2-1/2 hour program blended song, prayer and bible readings.
Speaker of Parliament Dr. Hon. W. McKeeva Bush, a longstanding member of his church choir, hosted the event and led the assembly in a number of traditional hymns. Newly elected Minister of Health and Wellness, Hon. Sabrina Turner served as emcee.
Well-known pastor Rev. Mary Graham was the guest speaker. Other highlights included musical performances by the Williams Quartet and Sylvia Wilks.
His Excellency the Governor Martyn Roper and Grand Court Justice Margaret Ramsay-Hale also took part in the program.
