UPDATE: The roadways along North West Point Road in West Bay have now been cleared and open to the public. The RCIPS thanks the members of the public for their cooperation.

A 38-year-old-man, also of West Bay, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and driving whilst impaired.

(CMR) A thirty-year-old man of West Bay was killed in a collision involving a motor vehicle and a motorcycle Sunday evening, May 2.

Reports are that just after 8:30 pm, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to the collision in the vicinity of the Coral Cables development on North West Point Road.

The rider of the motorcycle was unresponsive at the scene of the collision and was transported to the hospital by ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

Officers from the RCIPS and the CIFS assisted on the scene, and North West Point Road in the vicinity of Invicta Drive has been closed to the public as a result of the collision. Vehicles are being diverted through Watercourse Road, and motorists who usually utilize North West Point Road are being encouraged to seek alternative routes if possible. The RCIPS apologizes for any inconveniences caused.

This incident will be investigated by the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit of the RCIPS.

Traffic Investigators are encouraging anyone with information to call the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit at 649-6254 or the George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via their Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777 or via their website.
