Cayman Islands Boxing Association Statement
(CMR) Charles “The Killa” Whittaker, Cayman's highest-ranking retired boxer, was involved in an altercation at the D. Dalmain Ebanks Boxing Gymnasium that has led to his arrest and detention earlier today.
The incident appears to be connected to a Facebook post that Whittaker shared where he accused the Cayman Islands Boxing Association Ltd. (CIBA) of being racist and may have made other derogatory comments. The office manager of the gym, Tracey Seymour, approached him and requested that he not “bad mouth” the gym and the association members but instead focus on his workout. He was highly offended by the request and a verbal altercation ensued.
At some point, she indicated his continued behavior would lead to him being permanently banned from using the facility.

When he arrived earlier this afternoon to work out he was told he would not be permitted entry into the gym at which point he walked around to the front of the facility and took a concrete block and fence post to the glass door repeatedly – cracking the glass.
Whittaker then engages in multiple tense moments with others at the gym including Seymour who at one point calls him “black and an imbecile”.
Police then arrived at the scene where he refused to immediately leave. He has been arrested and detained at Fairbanks facility. We understand that he will be appearing in court tomorrow with strict bail conditions.
The CIBA has issued a statement indicating that they discussed the matter with the Director of Sports with a view to having him banned from the facility. They stressed that the incident involving Charles Whittaker that took place at the D Dalmain Ebanks Boxing Gymnasium this afternoon was an isolated incident.
By late this evening, one of several videos began going viral and was in wide circulation around the Cayman Islands.
The 47-year-old Whittaker has a pro boxing record of 43-16-2 and at one point was ranked number two in the world in the Junior Middleweight Division by the International Boxing Federation (IBF).
