(CMR) The Cayman Islands will be among 18 non-stop destinations that Sun Country Airlines will be adding to its routes this winter. The airline aims to provide a warm vacation for Midwesterners who have not traveled for almost two years since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Minneapolis-based discount airline announced Tuesday that six of the new routes would fly out of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, with direct flights to destinations including Florida and the Cayman Islands.
The routes will begin operating in November and December, with one-way fares as low as $79.
“With more and more people excited to resume traveling, we’re thrilled to be able to offer them the opportunity to visit these incredible vacation destinations this winter,”Sun Country Airlines Chief Revenue Officer Grant Whitney,” said in a statement.
Sun Country announced these new destinations with just a few days left for many passengers to cash in on travel vouchers put on hold during the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic.
With an April 30 booking deadline for many COVID-related travel vouchers, executives hope the announcement of the new destinations gives customers the chance to apply their vouchers toward next winter's travel.
