UPDATE: A man who attacked another with a machete on Friday, 9 April, appeared in court on Monday, 12 April after he was charged with assault GBH and possession of an offensive weapon. Kirk Watler (51) of Bodden Town was granted bail and the matter transmitted to the Grand Court.

(CMR) A man was struck multiple times with a machete Friday afternoon, 9 April, during an altercation with another man on Cumber Avenue in Bodden Town.

The police said shortly after 5 pm, officers responded to a report of an assault involving a machete. Upon the officers' arrival, they observed two men, one of whom appeared to have sustained injuries to his head and arm, and the other who was in possession of a machete.

Emergency Services attended the location, and the injured man was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment. He remains admitted with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The man, age 51 of Bodden Town, who had been in possession of the machete, was arrested on suspicion of assault GBH. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
