(CMR) An eight-year-old boy was mistakenly vaccinated in Texas after an error allowed an appointment through the Dallas County's registration site.
Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins confirmed the error. The child was vaccinated at the Grand Prairie/Irving site.
Jenkins said the issue that allowed the 8-year-old to get an appointment has been addressed, and they are still asking people to sign up for the vaccine on the county site, Fox News reported.
The boy’s father said he did not know that his child wasn’t eligible. He said he was able to register his son and got an appointment.
The boy is currently being observed. There are currently no data for children under 12 years old.
The county’s IT department is also working with another organization to make sure this does not happen again, the report.
As of Monday, Texans over the age of 16 are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
