(CMR) The Cayman Islands Bridge Club team has been developing a teaching program for Beginners and Improvers and has expanded Duplicate playing opportunities for club members and friends to enjoy.
The club said the objective is to significantly increase the number of regular players and bring the game of bridge to a wider audience in Cayman.
“This is already bearing fruit, and our new Wednesday Improvers' Duplicate evenings are in high demand. Plans after Easter involve Sunday afternoon Duplicate sessions (aiming to start 17th April) and more lesson courses. There will be something for everyone interested in the game of Bridge,” the Club stated in a release.
Courses for Beginners (9 weeks) and Improvers (8 weeks) will be as follows:
Tuesday 20th April, 5:15 – 6.30 pm Improvers Lessons
Wednesday 21st April, 9:30 am- 12 pm Beginners Lessons
Wednesday 21st April, 6 – 9 pm Improvers Duplicate
Thursday 22nd April, 7 – 9 pm Beginners Lessons
The Club said there are benefits to gain when persons join as playing card and board games have been shown to help people bolster their mental sharpness.
It is said that those who play frequently also score higher on cognitive tests and frequency is associated with greater brain volume in several regions, which can be affected by degenerative disease.
“Here in Cayman, we also appreciate the game's rich social component, which is said to boost a sense of well-being, and the immune system. Not to mention the fun,” the Club said.
The Club is now registering persons for the Club, but places are limited. Persons are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
Newcomers or persons who have little or no experience are also welcomed to join. To find out more, sign up for lessons or playing sessions, please visit caymanislandsbridgeclub.com
