(CMR) The police have now confirmed the identity of the victim in the fatal collision, which occurred early Saturday morning, 20 March.
He is Xavier Senior (23), a Jamaican national who resided in Grand Cayman.
Reports are that just after 2:35 am on Saturday, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 911 Communication Centre to a report of a single-vehicle collision that took place along Seaview Road, East End, in the vicinity of the blowholes.
It was reported that a jeep wrangler that was traveling westbound ran over the guard railing and into the water.
Senior, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken from the wreckage by officers from the Cayman Islands Fire Service and was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
The roadway was closed to the public following the accident.
