(CMR) The number of COVID-19 cases in Jamaica continues to spike as the country recorded 723 new cases of persons with the coronavirus on Saturday. This is the highest number of confirmed cases one day.
This is the second consecutive day that Jamaica hit a record after recording 527 new cases on Friday.
Kingston and St Andrew had the highest number of infections with 265 confirmed cases.
There were also seven COVID-19 related deaths on Saturday, with three of the persons who died from the Kingston and St Andrew region.
Last month the CDC issued a Level 4 travel advisory for Jamaica, advising Americans to avoid all travel to the island.
JAmaica expects to get its first batch of the AstraZeneca vaccine on Monday, with vaccination expected to start within two days after arrival.
