UPDATE: The young man in question has been located and all search and rescue efforts were called off shortly after 1:30 p.m. Questions remain about the conditions under which he returned to shore and how authorities were notified of his safe return.
(CMR) A young man has gone missing this morning by the site location formerly known as Mariner's Cove Apartments in the Prospect area. Small craft boats and watercraft were asked to assist in the search and rescue.
Sources have shared that he walked to the location and got into the water at that site. A rescue effort was underway that included the RCIPS police helicopter, marine unit, fire rescue and RCIPS officers.
CMR is aware of the identity of the swimmer but upon the request of the family and friends at the location, we are not disclosing it at this time. Others have already disclosed it on various social media platforms.
Sources indicated that parties close to the young man received a message that prompted a 911 call and dispatch of emergency personnel.
