(CMR) Teachers will be among the first persons in Trinidad and Tobago to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as the Government has listed them among essential workers.
The first shipment of 100,000 and 120,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is expected to arrive in the country by the end of February to March.
Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said healthcare workers would be the first to receive the vaccine.
“We will be focusing first on our healthcare workers who are the most exposed in the front line,” Deyalsingh said.
He said people with non-communicable diseases and the elderly would also be among the first group of people to be vaccinated.
Next in line will be essential workers, including teachers, the health minister said.
