“Tim Adam and Peggy Hamilton have made it very difficult for all of us as staff to continue in good raport and we are no longer able to function under these circumstances and their lack of trusted leadership. We issue this letter as a vote of no confidence for both Tim Adm and Peggy Hamilton.”

(CMR) Some 62 percent of the employees at the Cayman Turtle Centre penned a letter on January 19 calling for the resignation of the CEO, Tim Adam and COO, Peggy Hamilton over what they describe as long-term “despair and unfair treatment”. They have threatened that if there is no action they will be protesting on Friday February 12 in the courtyard.
The letter was addressed to Premier Alden McLaughlin. The overall concerns include failing to support staff, unfair terminations and unfair treatment that is causing them “undue stress mentally and emotionally across the Company.”
Of the 96 Turtle Centre staff, 60 have signed the letter saying they no longer have any faith in the management at the government-owned facility.
Alleging morale is at an all-time low, the employees indicate that during the pandemic they believe their employer has failed them. They raise a number of concerns including no salary during the COVID-19 pandemic for some and the allegation that Hamilton has either fired or forced out 16 Caymanians; who they claim have been “replaced with ex-pats.” They note that some of those were single mothers who must now rely on NAU assistance to feed their children.
They also point to the recent testimony before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) which they claim “numerous misrepresentations” were made by both the CEO and COO. Indicating they have no confidence in their leadership they asked for them to be removed or forced to resign.
They claim that thus far attempts to get anyone to assist them have been futile:
“In fear of retaliation, those that have signed the letter, wish to remain anonymous and do not want their signatures to be published anywhere other than to whom the letter is directly written. We have received no action from our board of directors to our request after almost 2 weeks of giving the letter to them. The ministry as well has been silent.”
The letter ends with them asserting their intention to protest. The signors on the letter noted that they wish to remain anonymous for fear of retribution but there appear to be some 28 signees on the letter. Their grievance letter was also copied to Deputy Premier Moses Kirkconnell, various members of the PAC, the work permit board and Chief Officer Gloria McField-Nixon.
