(CMR) Police and Travel Time are presently at a location in Windsor Park testing some 11 people after they are alleging a quarantine breach has occurred from an elderly man who returned from the UK on January 14. The family is claiming that the Travel Time team has made a mistake and it's a confusing misunderstanding.
His family understood that the 62-year-old was to go into quarantine at a government facility because the Oak Mill Street residence had not been approved for home isolation after an on-site inspection. However, on the date of his arrival, he showed up at the residence with a wrist band and phone after a bus dropped him off.
The family says he has been staying at the residence upstairs and was not co-mingling with anyone else.
However, early today It appears the elderly man was not charging his tracking phone that pairs with the wrist band and the Travel Time team became concerned. They proceeded to call his daughter who then went upstairs to hand him her phone in order to take the call. She appears to have forgotten that she should have left it at the door for him and the astute Travel Time member then alerted the authorities.
She stated that she did not hear the daughter call out to her father but that she simply handed him the phone – which would have been a clear breach since he was to be separated from everyone else.
There are currently three police cars at the location as well as public health officials who are testing every person at the location. The house is divided up into a tenant complex with 11 persons at the location that all must be tested now and isolated. They were observed wearing masks by eyewitnesses in the area speaking to the police who are carrying out the investigation.
This is a developing story and will be updated once more information is available.
