(CMR) The death of a nine-year-old boy in Trinidad and Tobago has been linked to a TikTok ‘blackout challenge'.
Emmanuel Poteon was found dead at about 5:08 pm on Monday in the bathroom of a guest bedroom of his home along Penguin Crescent, Maloney Gardens, Trinidad Express reported.
Poteon was reportedly at home with his grandmother and a 13-year-old cousin when he went quiet.
His relatives went in search of him but did not find him until three hours later.
He was found with a belt around his neck with his phone was nearby.
Efforts to resuscitate him failed.
According to Trinidad Express, police were told that the young boy might have been trying to partake in the ‘blackout challenge’ on TikTok by putting a belt around his neck and holding his breath while recording himself on his phone.
