(CMR) Two passengers on a Delta flight are facing several charges after they opened a cabin door and activated the emergency slide to exit the moving aircraft Monday morning.
The plane bound for Atlanta was taxiing the runway at the LaGuardia Airport in New York when the two passengers decided to leave.
Antonio Murdock (31) and Brianna Greco (23) of Florida each face third-degree criminal trespass charges. Murdock, who opened the cabin door, was also charged with second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree reckless endangerment.
A large service dog, which also reportedly deplaned with the two, has since been taken to a Brooklyn animal shelter.
The aircraft returned to the gate and deplaned the other passengers about an hour after the two exited the plane. The remaining passengers were accommodated on other Delta flights.
The aircraft was evaluated by maintenance technicians and was expected to return to service Monday afternoon.
